A Mediterranean Wedding in Barcelona
Stephanie and Trey’s wedding at Xalet del Nin took place in April, bringing together their families and friends for a Mediterranean destination wedding in Barcelona. Based in Dallas, Texas, Stephanie is Venezuelan and Trey is American, bringing two cultures together in a beautiful celebration overlooking the Mediterranean.
Their wedding at Xalet del Nin took place in April, with the sea providing an extraordinary backdrop throughout the day.
Family and friends travelled to Barcelona to celebrate with them, turning their wedding into an international gathering on the Mediterranean coast.
From the intimate moments before the ceremony to a cocktail reception with live music and a lively party that celebrated Stephanie’s Venezuelan roots, every part of the day had its own special character.
A Private First Look Before the Ceremony
Before the ceremony began, one of the most intimate moments of their wedding at Xalet del Nin took place: Stephanie and Trey’s private first look.
It was also during this moment, before the ceremony, that they chose to read their personal vows to one another.
Having this moment privately allowed the couple to exchange their own words before the formal celebration began and before joining all their guests.
After the first look and their private vows, it was time for the ceremony and for the different parts of the wedding day to begin.
A Ceremony by the Mediterranean
The ceremony took place with the Mediterranean as its backdrop.
Live music accompanied this part of the celebration, with violinist Ian Linson performing during the ceremony.
With their family and friends gathered together, Stephanie and Trey celebrated their marriage before moving into a very different part of the day: the cocktail reception.
This transition from an emotional ceremony to a more relaxed and festive atmosphere was marked by another live musician and one of the most visual moments of the wedding.
Live Music, Saxophone and a Champagne Tower
During the cocktail reception, Aion Sax brought live saxophone music to the celebration.
Aion Sax was also responsible for introducing Stephanie and Trey to their guests, creating a lively entrance for the newlyweds.
Immediately afterwards came the champagne tower, adding another celebratory moment to the cocktail reception.
The combination of live saxophone, the newlyweds’ entrance and the champagne tower created a natural transition into the more festive part of the wedding.
Music continued to play an important role throughout the celebration, changing as the wedding moved from ceremony to cocktail reception and, later, to the party.
Two Cultures Celebrating Together in Barcelona
Stephanie’s Venezuelan origins and Trey’s American background made this an international wedding bringing together different families and guests in Barcelona.
Destination weddings naturally create opportunities for people travelling from different places to spend time together around one celebration.
In Stephanie and Trey’s case, Barcelona became the meeting point for their wedding in Spain.
As destination wedding planners, these multicultural celebrations are particularly interesting to design and coordinate because every wedding can incorporate elements connected to the couple and their backgrounds.
And later in the evening, Stephanie’s Venezuelan roots would make a very energetic appearance on the dance floor.
A Venezuelan Hora Loca
With Stephanie being Venezuelan, La Hora Loca could not be missing from the celebration.
This tradition brought a burst of energy to the dance floor and added a clear reference to Stephanie’s cultural roots.
After an elegant Mediterranean wedding day, the Hora Loca introduced a completely different atmosphere: music, dancing and pure celebration.
It was also a perfect example of how an international destination wedding can bring different cultures together naturally throughout the day.
Rather than following a single style or tradition from beginning to end, the different moments of Stephanie and Trey’s wedding reflected the international character of their celebration.
Planning the Wedding from Dallas
Stephanie and Trey were living in Dallas while their wedding was taking place in Barcelona, which meant that much of the planning had to be managed from a distance.
Our role at Tu Boda Barcelona was to coordinate the different elements locally and bring together the team of professionals involved in the celebration.
A destination wedding requires many different areas to work together: ceremony, catering, floral design, photography and video, beauty, live musicians, DJ, sound, lighting and entertainment.
All of these elements need to follow the same timeline and work together on the wedding day.
For Stephanie and Trey’s celebration, the creative and production teams included professionals responsible for each of these different areas, from the preparations and ceremony through to the final hours on the dance floor. Their wedding at Xalet del Nin brought together Mediterranean scenery, live music, personal moments and a celebration that reflected both their international story and Stephanie’s Venezuelan roots.
Our work as planners continued throughout the process and into the wedding day itself, coordinating the different teams and moments of the celebration.
